5 Things I Learned in 2024 as a Mum, Wife, and Career Woman
As 2024 has just ended, I find myself reflecting on the many lessons the year has taught me. Balancing the roles of being a mum, a wife, and a career woman is no easy feat, but it has been a rewarding journey filled with growth, challenges, and moments of joy. Here are five invaluable lessons I learned this year:
1. Prioritizing Family Time is Non-Negotiable
In the midst of work deadlines, meetings, and personal ambitions, I realized that my family needs my undivided attention too. Scheduling dedicated family time—whether it’s a Sunday outing or just 30 minutes of uninterrupted conversation—helped strengthen our bond. I’ve learned that being present in the little moments, like helping with homework or listening to stories from school, creates memories that last a lifetime.
2. Self-Care is Essential, Not Selfish
Between juggling roles, it’s easy to neglect yourself. This year, I made it a point to prioritize my well-being. I invested in skincare products tailored for my oily skin and committed to simple routines that kept me feeling refreshed. I also realized the importance of mental health and allowed myself time to rest without guilt. A happy and healthy mum is better equipped to nurture others.
3. Teamwork is Key in Marriage
My husband and I faced several challenges this year, from managing our family schedules to supporting each other’s goals. I learned the power of teamwork in marriage—being intentional about communication, dividing responsibilities, and showing gratitude for each other’s efforts. Sometimes, it’s the small acts of kindness, like making his favorite meal or a quick “thank you” text, that keep the partnership strong. And we made sure to make time for dates and romance 😀to keep our marriage strong.
4. Delegation and Mental Health Matter
As a career woman, I realized that I can’t do it all—and that’s okay. Delegating tasks and asking for help at work not only lightened my load but also empowered my team. Watching my mental health was equally important. Taking breaks, setting boundaries, and seeking support when needed helped me stay balanced and productive. You don’t have to wear yourself out to prove your worth.
5. Faith is My Anchor
Navigating life’s uncertainties reminded me of the importance of faith. My social media journey with ‘Mums in High Heels’, where I shared scriptures and reflections, kept me grounded. Verses like Psalm 46:10 (“Be still and know that I am God”) and Philippians 4:19 (“And my God will supply all your needs…”) were my anchors during tough moments. Faith not only gave me strength but also allowed me to encourage others.
2024 was a year of learning, growth, and grace. It reminded me that I am not defined by perfection but by progress. As we step into 2025, I carry these lessons with me, ready to embrace new opportunities and challenges with an open heart.
To all the mums, wives, and career women reading this: you’re doing an incredible job. Let’s continue to learn, grow, and inspire one another. What lessons did 2024 teach you? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
